The Shared Cookies by Cynthia Raub

One of my nearest and dearest friends is having a baby! YAY! YAYYYYY!! YAAAAAAAAAYY! To celebrate her and her highly anticipated bundle of joy, her sister-in-law, neighbor, and I threw her a BBQ baby shower for her and 80 friends and family. Mama-to-be loves sweets especially a variety of them, so that was an important aspect in planning for the shower. In addition to the sheet cake, Jell-O cups, brownie bites, palmiers, and beautiful fruit platters, we made cookies. There is no better dessert to follow a BBQ than cookies (except maybe popsicles . . . ) and with that many guests, I wanted to make sure we had a variety of sweets to suit everyone's tastes. Amy and I decided to make double batches of our two favorite cookies for the dessert table for this very special occasion.

I might have a small obsession with lemon. So, if you see me cooking up a lot of lemon recipes, you'll know exactly why. I love the light, fruity tang that lemon adds to everything it touches. This morning, I woke up knowing exactly what I wanted to make for our Sunday breakfast - Lemon Ricotta Pancakes! These are ridiculously light and fluffy, but also soft and custardy from the ricotta. It's delicious!

Obviously not all the food that Cynthia and I cook are together or for this blog, and sometimes we have people ask us, "Hey, is THIS going to be posted on your blog?" So, we're trying out this idea to post some of the things that we casually cook in our kitchens during the week, and doing a "quick post" with just one photo and a recipe. These posts will always be something we've made super recently. We hope you enjoy our mini-posts!

My kids love berries - particularly the 1-year-old who has entered the picky eater phase. So even though they are *gasp* NOT in-season, we eat them anyway. I had berries in the fridge that were getting past their prime, so I figured I'd make some mixed berry muffins this morning. It's a simple recipe, and my 4-year-old was happy to help!
